Is your Accountant failing you?

"Yes"

is probably the answer - if you are like
76% of business owners
across the UK

Choosing the right accountant for you
is one of the most important keys
in the life and success of your business
. . .now, and in the future!

Do you want a traditional 'bean counter' type accountant? By that I mean the sort of guys who, more often than not, come along some time after your year end, look at your figures, and confirm what you basically already know.

Of course you don't, but that's the level of service most ordinary business owners get - a sad fact confirmed by the Sage survey done a few years back.

Or would you prefer an accountant who is more dynamic and pro-active throughout the year - someone who can help you move your business ahead, help you with profitability, help save a bit of tax, and thereby put more money in your pocket.

The right accountant for you is, firstly, the sort of person that you can put your trust in and are comfortable talking to - openly.  But there's more . . .much  more!

Importantly, to optimise the business relationship, they must also possess those invaluable skills, knowledge and experience of your type of business - so that they can help you with your planning, systems and processes to generate more sales, better profits, improved cash flow, and the need for greater tax savings.

Especially now, in the current difficult economic climate, it is essential, more than ever before, that you keep several steps ahead of your competitors - so that you not only ride the storm come out the other side far stronger than ever before.

BUSINESSES AND ACCOUNTANTS DISAGREE WHEN IT COMES TO MONEY

One third of businesses don’t think their accountant saves them money and surprise fees top the list of frustrations for businesses.

Although accountants and businesses have one of the most trusted relationships in business, a third of businesses don’t believe their accountant saves them money, over three quarters of businesses don’t think their accountant helps them grow the top line while the biggest frustrations for businesses are the surprise fees. 55 per cent of businesses felt that the working relationship with their accountant could be improved. Given these differences in opinion, combined with the fact that fees have increased by over 10 per cent in the last year for a fifth of all businesses, it is perhaps not surprising that 21 per cent of businesses are looking to review their relationship with their accountant over the next twelve months.

These are just some of the findings from a the Sage ABC (Accountants Business Collaboration) Survey conducted by YouGov and Launchpad Research which analyses the responses from 486 accountants and 2301 businesses into the relationship between businesses and their accountant.
